BIRDS AT ‘ARBORLEE’ 2002-2008

Yellow Robin   Seen most days at site especially in winter
White Browed Scrub Wren   Common on the ground around house.
Whipbird   Common, heard most days 1-2 pairs.
Lewin’s Honey Eater   Common . Seen most days.
Grey Fantail   Seen most days in spring and summer not in winter
Rufus Fantail   Seen most days in spring and summer not in winter
Variegated Blue Wren   Small Family seen frequently at times any time of year
Albert’s Lyrebird   Heard for long periods from May to mid August then for shorter periods most days. Less in summer and autumn. At least 3 males calling on this block and another 6 on the block to the north.
Satin Bower Bird   Seen or heard often. Bower 80 meters north of house.moved 2008
Paradise Rifle Bird   At times common mainly spring and December 2005 in the Cupaniopsis parvifolia near N. E. corner of the house.
Regent Bower   As above. when trees are in fruit.
Brown Thornbill   Often in small groups.
Brown Cuckoo Dove   Common except in winter.
White Throated Tree Creeper   Often seen going up the tree trunks.
Wonga Pigeon   Often heard and disturbed when you’re bush walking.
Red Browed Finches   Often seen in small groups late winter early spring in group 10 -20
Green Catbird   Often heard but rarely seen
Black Yellow Tailed Cockatoo   Often heard and seen flying over head in groups of 4
Currawong   Often
Australian Raven   Occasionally
Eagle   Seen occasionally flying overhead
Fantail Cuckoo   Often in spring and early summer.
Black Faced Monarch   Often in summer. Occasionally in spring.Often spring 2008
Yellow Throated Scrub Wren   Occasionally seen in a pair, foraging on the ground around the house.
Grey Thrush   Seen autumn 2006 around the house. Not in winter.Seen  and heard spring 2008.
Top Knot Pigeons   Often heard flying overhead in a group 5-10. They make a big whooshing sound.Spring 2008 has been a good time with the white Acronichia berries.

Crimson Rosella   Occasionally
Mistletoe Bird   Occasionally including winter.
Silver Eye   Very common in late summer and autumn.
Bush Turkeys  

Sometimes common however seem to be absent for long periods. Many of the large mounds have recently been renovated late winter 2006. Present and renovating the nests 2008

Golden Whistler   Occasionally throughout year.Common late winter and spring 2008
Wompoo Fruit Dove   Occasionally, particularly enjoyed the Rhodamnia whiteana in fruit mar/April 2008
Shining Bronze or Horshfield’s Cuckoo   Occasionally
Yellow Shrike Tit   Seen may 2005 a pair with juvenile. Again in July 2005 and one in April 2006 Again 2 x in late winter 2008
Quail   Family in forest in summer 2005. and spring2008  Also seen on the western side in grass in Winter.
Yellow Faced Honeyeater   Heard occasionally Seen often late winter and spring 2008
Red Wattle Bird   Common in silky oak in October 2005
Emerald Pigeon   Often seen in Dec 2005. Seen often summer 2008 Ate tadpoles from a drying pond summer 2008
Eastern Spine Bill   Often in Nov & Dec 2005 and Occasionally winter - summer 06.07,08
Noisy Pitta   Heard occasionally but has not been seen.
Welcome Swallows   Winter and Spring 2005 a few times in 2006,2008 Fly onto verandah
Grey Goshawk   Seen infrequently Photo 25/2/06
Peaceful Dove   Seen often in April 2006 mainly on the ground
Ibis   visited the dam in April and May 2006
Magpie   Infrequently
Kookaburra   one visit down near house 18/2/06 (lyrebird and bower birds do this call) seen on western side
Pied Butcher   Up the top and on the West side
Spotted Pardalote   Early spring 2006 seen picking up small bits of grass.
Red Back Wren   On west side.  Seen occasionally.
Bassian Thrush   Seen 2 x 2003 autumn 2008
Pheasant   Heard down the hill in spring and seen Nov 2005 near the house
White Headed Pigeon   Seen 1st Sept 2006
